Don Giovanni is a “capriccio for sounds and grimaces”, proposing through a rigorous score made of musical gestures the essential structure of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. A selection of the most significant arias is embedded in an organic drama, designed and interpreted “a cappella” by a small choir. What’s strange? The interpreters are actors and not musicians and Mozart’s music is presented with gestures and noises able to capture the essence of Mozart’s opera.

I Sacchi di Sabbia Company was founded in Pisa in 1995 and since then it’s been standing out within the Italian theatre scene thanks to its educated, ironic and astonishing features. The Company’s works are able to create connections between folk traditions and refined cultural research, pushing the boundaries of their exploration in every different direction, from literature to cinema (Sandokan o la fine dell’Avventura and Tràgos), from comics to opera (ESSEDICE and Don Giovanni di Mozart). Their unique and unusual style perfectly matches with the definition the artists in the Company love to give about themselves: “Comici dell’Arte”
