Italian Performance Platform Short
Guest companies by Silvia Mei – 30 may 5.30pm
And for the third time over, for the IPP we have selected companies that carry out particularly refined research. The selection was not made in an elitist perspective, but was the result of a careful evaluation of companies’ conceptual density, technical and linguistic ability, and clarity of results. Without following a single fil rouge, nonetheless the projects we are presenting all seem to share a feature that is recurrent in most contemporary poetics – genre drift. All IPP 2015 artists and companies, though formally belonging to discrete areas (dance, image theatre, or figurative theatre), actually cross over the borders of such areas. Partly thanks to technical rigour and skill (perhaps stemming from typically Italian craftsmanship), these projects appear blatantly and convincingly non-territorial without seeming foreign to theatre or their own specific codes and languages.
